JL Counsel LLC (“JL Counsel,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) operates the website at jlcounsel.co (the “Site”). This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect through the Site, how we use and share it, and the choices available to you. It applies only to information collected through the Site and not to information you provide in the course of an established attorney-client relationship. Information provided in the course of an established attorney-client relationship is governed by our engagement terms and the applicable rules of professional conduct.

1. Information We Collect

We collect only a limited amount of personal information, and only in the following ways.

Information you provide directly. When you complete the contact form, email us, or call us, we collect the personal information you choose to submit, which typically includes:

  • Your first and last name;
  • Your email address;
  • Your telephone number;
  • Your company and position;
  • The service you are interested in; and
  • Any information you include when describing yourmatter or inquiry.

Information collected automatically. When you visit the Site, our website host automatically records limited technical information as part of normal operation and security, such as your IP address, browser type, device information, and the pages you view. We do not use website analytics, and the Site does not build advertising or behavioral profiles about you.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the personal information described above to:

  • Respond to your inquiry and communicate with you about it;
  • Evaluate and, where appropriate, scope a potential engagement;
  • Your telephone number;
  • Operate, maintain, and secure the Site; and
  • Comply with our legal, regulatory, and professionalobligations.

We do not use your information for advertising or marketing to third parties, and we do not build profiles about you.

3. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising or any similar targeted-advertising purpose. We disclose personal information only in these limited circumstances:

  • Service providers and third-party services. We use a website hosting and form provider (Webflow) to operate the Site and receive your messages; a bot-prevention service (Cloudflare Turnstile) to protect our contact form; and an email provider to correspond with you. These providers process your information only to perform those functions on our behalf, not for their own purposes. The Site also loads fonts from Google Fonts, which causes your browser to send your IP address to Google; Google's handling of that information is governed by its own privacy policy (see Section 4).
  • Professional advisors. We may share informationwith our own advisors (for example, accountants or counsel) where reasonably necessary.
  • Legal and safety. We may disclose information where required by law, legal process, or applicable rules of professional responsibility, or to protect our rights, property, or safety or that of others.

4. Cookies and “Do Not Track”

The Site does not use advertising, analytics, orcross-site tracking cookies, and we do not track visitors over time or across third-party websites. Because of that, the Site does not respond differently to browser "Do Not Track" signals, and we do not permit third parties to collect personally identifiable information about your activities across other websites through the Site.

Our contact form is protected by Cloudflare Turnstile, a bot-prevention service. To tell human visitors apart from automated ones, Turnstile processes technical signals from your browser, including your IP address, and sets one or more strictly-necessary cookies, such as _cfuvid, which distinguishes visitors who share an IP address for rate-limiting purposes. These cookies last only for your browsing session, contain no personal information, and are not used for analytics or advertising. This processing is for security purposes only; it is handled by Cloudflare as our service provider and is governed by Cloudflare's privacy policy and the Turnstile Privacy Addendum.

Our Site loads fonts from Google Fonts. When a page loads, your browser requests the fonts from Google, which involves sending your IP address to Google in order to deliver them. Google does not set cookies through Google Fonts, and we do not use this for tracking or advertising.

5. Data Retention

We keep the information you submit only as long as reasonably necessary to respond to your inquiry, to evaluate or carry out an engagement, and to meet our legal and professional obligations. Inquiries that do not result in an engagement are generally deleted within 24 months. When information is no longer needed for these purposes, we delete it or direct our service providers to do so.

6. Your Choices

You may email us at victoria@jlcounsel.co at any time to review, update, correct, or request deletion of the personal information you submitted through the Site, and we will honor reasonable requests consistent with our legal and professional obligations. You may also choose not to use the contact form and email us directly instead.

7. Children’s Privacy

The Site is intended for businesses and professionals and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has provided us information, please contact us and we will delete it.

8. Third-Party Links

The Site may contain links to third-party websites for your convenience. Please note that we are not responsible for the content, privacy policies, or security of these third-party websites. We recommend that you review the privacy policies of any third-party websites you visit.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Effective Date” above, and for material changes we will take reasonable steps to note the change on this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
